Shiny
He is carrying his umbrella, because it is raining. It’s always raining. In a way it’s no wonder so many of the city’s inhabitants are so unhappy, considering that they only see the sun every ten days or so. But he doesn’t mind the rain. With the umbrella, and wearing his black suit, he can hardly feel it, though he can tell from the steadily sliding temperature that he is...

found a note to myself that just says '*INWARD.'
I don’t know why past me assumes I’m going to remember the context for these things. I’m always finding these notes I left myself, marked with DNF (for ‘do not forget’) and then something I’ve clearly forgotten. “DNF: dinosaurs.” That was a real one, by the way. I found that written on a page of psychology notes a couple of years ago.
The maddening...

okay, this might actually be the weirdest thing...
Rather than just state it outright and then have to explain my motivations, let’s start from the beginning.
Section 1:
Most of my classes are on break, and a lot of the people I would be hanging out with are traveling around because all of their classes are on break. This leaves me with a lot of free time, but with no option to travel and no one to spend it with.
I have a serious tendency...

a-wandering asked: What/when/who was #7 of the 10 things people have said about you? It sounds really familiar, but maybe just because it's the spastic sort of thing I would say.
Also, I really like your theme.

state of the writer: confused
Did you know that the French language has no translation for the word “confused?” This is especially unfortunate when things cannot be described as anything other that confusing, which is how I would describe around half of the things that happen to me lately. I’ve spent the last few days vaguely disoriented without a proper schedule, because apparently the French university...

In last nights dream, magic was in danger of disappearing from the world. There...

I realize a lot of people find it incredibly boring to hear about other people’s dreams, and that is unfortunate, mostly for them. I’m going to make an effort not to let this turn into a rambling introspective of the inside of my unconscious brain, but I figured it might be informative, at least this one time, to give you an idea of the kind of things I dream about on a regular basis....

Paris: possibly the only country where you can look up a basilica on Google Maps and discover that someone has given the church a review, and the review gives it four out of five stars and includes the sentence “the kings’ necropolis is in a sad state.”

ten things people have told me about myself
You know those things that are like “ten things about me!” and then you go and tell people things you want them to know about you? I think there should be one that’s “ten things other people have told me about myself.” I think this is much more interesting, or at least equal in interestingness. So I’m going to start: here are ten things people have told me about...

if I don't turn my phone alarm off in the morning,...
This would be a good idea, except that in the morning my brain is not actually smart enough to understand the concept of an alarm. So every morning I spend around an hour periodically thinking, “Oh, hey, it’s that little noise again. Where’s that coming from? It sounds familiar. I wonder what it… oh, it stopped. Guess that’s the end.”
Also, among all the phones...

stop emailing me, college
I don’t need to know every single workshop that keeps happening and then being canceled repeatedly, or how I can’t park my car because of the snow, because I don’t have a car and more importantly I am not even in the same country as you and thus am not affected by your weather patterns. Also I do not want an internship at a bank, and by the way why are all the internships you...
